Course Aim:

This course is intended to provide the knowledge required to enable personnel without designated security duties to enhance a ships security. Those who successfully complete this course will be able to contribute to the enhancement of maritime security through heightened awareness and ability to recognise a security threat and to respond appropriately.

• Security levels
• Emergency procedure and contingency plans
• Threat recognition and response

Qualification:

This training meets the requirements of STCW Section VI/6 Table A-VI-6 and on successful completion you will be issued with an "STCW Security Awareness Training" certificate of competence.

Accreditation:

This course is accredited by Maritime New Zealand

Online Process:

This is an online course and can be completed from anywhere you have an internet connection.

Click on "book this course" tab and that will take you to an online registration of interest form. Once completed you will be contacted by a member of the FETS team to complete all the necessary requirements for enrolment.

You will then be guided to the online course and away you go. The course assessment consists of multiple choice and two short answer questions.

The course should only take about four hours, but you will have access to the online platform for four weeks. Should you require additional time simply contact the FETS office.

In person training:

We also provide this training in person and the training takes up to 4 hours to complete.
